注
Bian(1) Fang [10265] Bian(1) Xu's [1420] nephew was the first magistrate of Kunshan county (Suzhou) after the Qian family returned the territory to Song administration. Fang restored the county school and constructed a Confucian temple (Fuzi miao). There are four Bian families during the Song whose ancestors include one with the jade radical in their mingzi and who flourished during the late tenth or early eleventh century; Xu, Xun [7061] who moved to Suzhou, Wuxian-s from Hua(b), Min [10266] (who moved to Suzhou, Kunshan for the first time--previous address not noted) and Qi [10263], earliest ancestor of the Mingzhou, Yinxian Bian whose origin is unknown except that they lived here from at least the time of Qi. Xun's affinal kin included the distinguished Lu(5) of Shaoxing, Shanyin xian which included a branch that moved to Mingzhou. The probability is very good that all four are branches of a base Bian lineage and that Fang was the link to the Lower Yangzi branches. I treat them as separate lineages for the time being.
