Yi Fu [11407] Jinshi #1. Hunan TZ, 134.18b. He was a obsequious flatterer of Su Shidan [3768] and was cashiered, and subsequently died, when Shidan fell from favor. See also documentation for son-in-law, Fang Zuoyue [16993]. This lineage is probably a good example of the initial 'political' success of one member, the subsequent success of close relatives, then the success of collateral kin (in this case in other parts of Hunan) and the decline in the visability of the root family. The origins of all Song Yi seems to have been a Xiong [16998] (q.v.), resident of Tanzhou, Liuyang county and a local official during the Tsin. One descendant, the ancestor of Yi Wei [17013] (q.v.), moved to Jizhou, Luling (modern Jinan) county at the end of Tang. A probable descendant moved to Jishui, where there were Yi juren during successive generations. The Luling Yi were clearly prominant local gentry and trained in the classics (ruye), but produced no jinshi until Douyuan [17014] in 1244 and only a few juren. Another probable descendant of Xiong must have moved to Yuanzhou, Yichun county, at an early date; and from Tang through the Southern Song produced a series of jinshi. One member of the Yichun Yi, Yanqing [17006] (q.v.), moved to Yunzhou, Shanggao county during late Five Dynasties and produced N. and S. Song jinshi. Another branch of the lineage settled in Raozhou, Anren county (1st jinshi in 1042) and either moved there from Tanzhou or, more probable, from Jian. There were a few other Yi scattered through the area (e.g., a Fuzhou, Chongren resident, Yi Dong, who earned the jinshi in 1112 [Jiangxi TZ, 21.37a], who is not entered into a separate record). The sustained linkages between the lineages is suggested by Yi Yingyun [16994], who earned the juren on the Jizhou, Luling registers in 1186 and the jinshi on the Tanzhou, Ningxiang registers in 1187. CBD, 2, 1412.
