Qian(1) Zao [13108] At the beginning of Yingzong's reign, the empress dowager Cao(1) (Cao(1) Bin's [8134] grandaughter) controlled the government and Zao three times memorialize that she should return the affairs of state to the emperor. Zeng Gong, WJ, 42.6b-7a. According to YLDD, 2368.3b-4a, he was a Suzhou jinshi in 1053, but used Hezhou as his benguan and this branch of the Qian may have moved to Hezhou and then Zao's father, Shunzhi [13107], moved to Suzhou, home of his wife, born Ding(1) (who was buried in Suzhou). Zao was buried in Suzhou. Zao eldest surviving son was Hao [16287] (funerary inscription has mingzi with radical 46 in error). Since Zao's family was poor, they were granted 500,000 cash and offices assigned to his younger brother, son and grandson.
