Han(1) Weizhong [16809] The place names Changli, Yingchuan and Nanyang are all used in association with this lineage, and their ancestral burial ground was in Xuzhou (Yingchuan), Changshe county and Zhending residence was common to both the ancestors of Han(1) Qi [630] and Han(1) Weizhong, etc. Both use Changli, which is also the place name used by Han(1) Yu [3332]; no real indication of either lineage having direct ancestral ties with the Tang Neo-Confucian beyond a common penultimate ancestor in Han(1) Xin [22437] and his son, Gonggao [22438]. The puzzle is solved in this way: Han(1) Xin, Liu(2) Bang's [16622] most important general employed in establishing the Han, was the founder of the Nanyang Han. Xin(2) [22439], a descendant of his son, Gonggao, moved to Yingchuan, which became a family burial site that continued in use through at least the Northern Song. Another descendant of Gonggao, Bo [22444], moved from Ruzhou, Yexian to Yingchuan (Xuzhou), Changge county in ca. 500. A descendant of Xin(2), Leng [22445], moved to Jingzhou (Anding Jun) in Gansu and his descendant, Qi(5) [22446], moved to Zhending, Jiumen (modern Gaocheng) county in ca. 500 A.D. Qi(5) was the direct lineal ancestor of Han(1) Yu's great grandfather, Rentai [22447]. Weizhong was either a lineal descendant of Qi(5) or of Bo; I opt for Qi(5) based on Zhending address and assume that Changshe became the clan burial ground since Han(1) Yu also claims a Changli connection and was demonstrably a descendant of Qi(5). I am treating the descendants of Bo as Yingchuan Han and those of Qi(5) as Nanyang Han and the ancestors of both Qi(5) and Bo as Nanyang Han. Du Dagui, 'zhong,' 41.1a-2b. CBD, 5, 4153.
