Yang(2) Daya [2029] According to the funerary inscription drafted by Daya's son-in-law, Ouyang(1) Xiu [1384], Daya was descended from Yang(2) Zhen(2) [12357], but that the (jia)pu or family genealogy did not record any other descendants until Daya's ninth generation ancestor (tenth generation by my count), Yinchao [22502], whose son was Yanke [22503] and Yanke's son was Kan(2) [22504] whose son was Chengxiu [4038], who was Daya's great great grandfather. Ouyang(1) Xiu says that the preface to the pu merely records Yinchao, Yanke and Kan as Hongnong people. However, the XTS genealogical tables provide a complete genealogy from Jie [12362] (first Zhongshan Yang(2) and Zhen(2)'s 10th generation descendant by my count) through Yanke with a gap between Yinchao and his apparent grandfather, Deli (not in dataset), who was the grandson of Wensheng [22557], #3 son of Jian [12367]. This makes Kan(2) a great grandson of Yanke, rather than son, which would also be the only way to identify Yinchao as a 9th or 10th generation ancestor of Daya. The genealogical tables (edited by Ouyang(1) Xiu) identify Chengxiu as son of Kan(2). This order also makes better chronological sense. SS, 307.13b-14a, biography of Daya's second uncle, Tan(2) [2024], clarifies matters and identifies Kan(2)'s uncle Rushi [22559] and Rushi's brothers, including Kan's father, Yuqing [22560], as the founders of the Jinggong branch (fang) of the Zhongshan Yang(2). See also documentation for Yang(2) Jun [12365]. According to Hu(1) Quan's funerary inscription for Yang(2) Fei [10564] (q.v.), another descendant of Yang(2) Chengxiu, Chengxiu was a 33rd generation descendant of Zhen(2), but the genealogical reconstruction cited above would make him a 25th generation descendant by my count, or a 23rd generation descendant by one Chinese count. If the latter were true, then the conversion of 23 to 33 would be a common copying error. In 904, Chengxiu [4038], was sent as vice-ambassador on a mission headed by Zheng(1) Qi [3270] to enfeoff Qian(1) Liu [3036] as king (wang) of Wuyue. Yang(2) Xingmi [4044] revolted and the JiangHuai road was blocked and the embassy was unable to return to Luoyang. Chengxiu remained in Hangzhou and for the first time split off from the Hongnong lineage 'registers' (ji) and transferred the ji or 'registers' to Qiantang xian. Daya was Zhang(1) Conggu's [7015] son-in-law, Ouyang(1) Xiu's [1384], Li(2) Yan(3)'s [7280] and Wen(1) Siliang's [7392] father-in-law. His son Hang's [4042] father-in-law was Lu(5) Gui's [7049] father, Zhen [3634]. Hang's sons-in-law, Cheng(1) Rong [3106] and Cheng(1) Hong [3104], were both sons of Cheng(1) Shimeng [122]. Both Hang and his wife were buried in Suzhou, Wuxian. Hang's other son-in-law, Wu((3) Shifu [4021], had the same generational name as the two Hangzhou, Qiantang brothers, Wu(3) Shiren [4022] and Shili [4023]. Wu(3) Shili was Wu(3) Yue's [1992] father. They were probably all related to Wu(3) Shineng [1982], whose total biography is that he was "A Siming person, who became Guangdong yunfu in 1109". XTS, 71B.43a-46b; XCB, 92.14a; Lu Dian, WJ, 16.5a. Ouyang Xiu, WJ, 36.4a-5a (wife #2, surname Zhang, who died in 1055 at age 60), 61.2a-4a, 62.1a-1b (wife #1, surname Zhang, who married him at age 22 and died in 1006 at age 37); SS, 300.27b. CBD, 4, 3151-2.
