注
Xiao(1) Gu [718] His ancestors were Tanzhou, Liuyang xian people. When his great great grandfather Yi(2) [12285] was in office and his great grandfather, Chujun [3363], was in office as Hengzhou sima, the Ma(2) kingdom was in disorder. They abandoned their posts and transferred his allegiance to the Li(2) rulers of Southern Tang. Since they did not want an office, they was granted lands in Yuanzhou, Xinyu xian. This county later was attached to Linjiang jun. Another branch of the same lineage (Dingji's [723]) moved to Jizhou, Luling xian. Gu became something of a Vietnamese expert. His son-in-law, He(2) Zhengchen [3336], jinshi in 1067, had the same address as He(2) Ruogu [682] and was probably kin. Based on generational name and address, Gu is presumed to be the uncle of Xiao(1) Qi [3362], who was the father-in-law of Kong(2) Pingzhong's [901] brother, Wenzhong [3439]. The 1148 jinshi list, yijia #5, entry for his great great grandson, Sui [12302], identifies Gu as the founder of the hu [jia ?]. This suggests segmentation in this generation. A Xiao Zhi(4) [12294] earned the jinshi in the same sitting and changed his mingzi to Ying. The generational indicator in Zhi(4)'s mingzi was the same as that of He [12292], Guan [719] and Fen [12293] and Zhi(3) [12291]. Fen's son has the same generational indicator as the sons of Gu. I am assuming that Yi(2) was the great great grandfather of all five and that new branches were established during this generation--the sons of these five would all be beyond the mourning circle of Yi(2).
