Xu(3) Xi [753] When the new laws (xinfa) were promulgated, he offered up policy proposals as a commoner (buyi) and was rewarded with an appointment. He was a client of Wang(2) Anshi [1762] and Lu(9) Huiqing [1309]. He died in the siege of Yongle city. His mother was a member of a Huang(2) lineage. Fu(2)'s [8060] father. XCB, 267.2b, 271.11a-11b, 272.6b, 281.5a, 290.3b, 299.9a. I have identified as nephews Fang [751] and Yi [756] on basis of generational name even though they hold office at the same time as Xi. According to the funerary inscription for collateral kin, Luqing [25776] (q.v.), the Xu(3) of Yuzhang were all descendants of Han dynasty elites (gaoshi) and seem to be prominant in this area since Han and Tang (see, Nanchang FZ, 28.1a-2a; 29.1a). Collateral kin of a senior branch of the lineage must have benefited from Xi's quick rise under the patronage of Wang Anshi and Lu Huiqing as did his closer relations (32 through his great grandchildren and great grandnephew entered via his yin--including youger brothers). I have only included kin, who entered by yin, who held functional offices and not those whose only indication of occupation is a title conferred via yin. CBD, 3, 2013.
