Yuwen(1) Xuzhong [8173] Shizhong(1)'s [2101] elder brother and Cuizong's [8174] younger brother, Shiyuan's [2102] father. He was sent on a mission to Jin and was detained. He rose to be a Hanlin xueshi and Zhizhigao under Jin and was called national teacher (guoshi) by the Jin. His whole family died in a fire caused by a rebellion in 1146; the Song considered that he had never forgotten his former country and he was given posthumous name and his son, Shiyuan, was granted the imperial surnanme, Zhao, in 1204. His wife was given lands and monies in Fuzhou (Check SHY index and my notes) and, Yuwen(1) Shaojie [17172] (q.v.) was ordered to be Xuzhong's heir by imperial edict and his descendants may have become Fujian residents (Liu Kezhuang composed several documents concerning Xuzhong). Sichuan TZ, 122.38a. CBD, 1, 559. Chen Song: This record is merged with Yuwen(1) Huangzhong [17154], who was the same person. Hartwell notes on Yuwen Huangzhong: For kinship link, see documentation of nephew, Shishen [7409]. The move, absence from other sources on this branch of the lineage, and position as second in order to birth, all suggest that he may have become the heir of a member of the Shuangliu branch of the lineage.
